A new year and I hope Marni and I will post more frequently and, even if it is between us, it is still fun and I hope to post more here. I watched the Golden Globes last night (no I am not talking about Taraji P. Henson`s Ta-ta`s) which was pretty good overall. I loved Christian Bale`s acceptance speech, Love Carol Burnett who got the first award, that is in her name, for excellence in TV even though, I think, the award should have been called the Lucille Ball award but she has been dead for over 30 years and I loved seeing Viggo in the crowd. OK enough chit chat on to my best dressed list...
I start off with a man and what a good looking man Mahershala Ali is with a basic tux that seems to fit well but he added this beautiful blue scarf that just seems to set it off. He won as well which just adds a bit of bling.
I love this dress because it fits her well, the blue is stunning and the greenish turquoise shimmer just sets it off brilliantly. The length of the gown is perfect...which Lady Ga Ga should have thought about. She would have been my best dressed if it wasn`t for the putrid eye treatment. Please stop the 1970s look.
I pick Octavia Spencer for my best dressed in a beautiful cocktail gown with subtle shimmer, classic high heels and love her hair and make up. When looking at all the gowns, even though I love glitter and all colours, for some reason, I found many dresses looked like they just came from the prom.
I give a nod to jewelry...necklaces!
Lady Ga-Ga`s dress colour was beautiful but that train...geez louise! She forgot that she was not going down the aisle like princess Diana or Maria Von Trapp from the Sound of Music. I do have to say I loved the necklace from Tiffany`s. I liked her hair colour and even her makeup. If there is one thing I can`t stand is to see a plain dress showing the bare skin on top and ..nothing. Please (hear me Amy Adams) put on a necklace!
Ok, please believe that Dakota Fanning is not dead and she is not going to haunt you but I am showing her beautiful necklace which is a stunner. Her make-up is great but the hair is way too severe and I can`t stand that parting in the middle.
My hubba hubba
I love Viggo Mortensen....He looks classic and he has not done anything to his face. I just want to bite his chin in a playful manner and...oops, forgot where I was for a moment.
The Bad...
The Waltons tried to dress this thing up using a night gown paired with some Christmas silver trim and some broken ornaments. Let`s see how tight we can make her face by pulling that hair into twisty top bun of crap. Ughhh...
GAWK, GAWK...The Dodo wants its feathers back or maybe it is the Edgar Allen Poe`s The Raven who wants them back but he even says, `Never More.`I think she just flew down to these awards and then flew away so she didn`t have to wait in the limo.
So poor Lucy Liu had no idea the people working on this gown were drunk and splattered paint on it and then tried to cover it up with some sheer drapes. I think Lucy is blind...that is the excuse I give her.
Worst dressed in my book goes to Amber Heard who thought she was going to a 1985 prom. The mismatched boob covering to the horrible lower white crap which didn`t look good in the `80s and still doesn`t. Match this up with her hair-do that must have been the 16th try to make it look better than when she woke up with it and she wins the award for blecchhh. The only thing I like is her make-up
Now on to WTF
First...Timothy Chalamet, put on some weight as you are way too skinny. Sorry, I have very little mother instinct in me but this kid is too thin. Now I don`t mind all black but WTF is that shimmery gun holster you are wearing. I have no idea what it is but it`s stupid...there I said it. The only thing it might be good for is when you are zip-lining and you want to look good.
Janelle Monai should always be in this part of the series because she always wears something nuts. We have Queen Guinevere from the nunnery who decided to wear some chain mail from Lancelot, pair it with a Star Trek belt, King Tut`s big ass necklace and Jackie Kennedy`s hat. I know all the fashion èxperts`will probably love it but the only time I would wear this is for Halloween.
OK there is my lengthy list. Anything to add Marni.

Emmy Night Fashion! Back to the Blog!
We took a summer hiatus since..no one is following us...yet:) I decided to start things off with the Emmy Fashion and I have to say, no gown really wowed me. There were plenty of people who loved gowns i thought missed the mark or were just hideous. Anyhoo, I have picked 3 gowns I liked and 3 I thought were ghastly.
Here are my top 3....
This is Logan Shroyer, Yeah, I don't know him either. He is in Yves St. Laurent and I thought this was a different take on the typical tux men wear. I love the shimmer of the jacket, his shoes are nice (Men and boys...stop wearing sneakers, you all look like morons) and his tie looks straight so this is a win for me.
This is Leslie James (I know still have no clue) in Christian Siranno pantsuit and I was surprised by how much I loved this. It has that neat shimmer of pink and blue which works so well with her skin tone which is flawless. I would say the pants are a bit too long but, overall, I loved the look.
Marin Hinkle (who??) looks amazing in this purple dress and this is my favourite of the night. It is soft and flowing and just perfect...although i would love a necklace and not one that hangs between her boobs. I chose this over Joey King's huge dress which is beautiful but Joey looks always bored or in pain so I chose this dress which looks more comfortable anyway.
Now my pick for worst....
Bleccchhhh-Tracee Ellis Ross is being eaten by this Valentino Haute Couture number. The dress is wearing her..well, devouring her with her tiny head peaking out from this pepto dismal confection. It must have been loud being beside her with all that swooshing and where is an iron when you need one.
WTF? I mean, WTF? Amy Sedaris thought this housecoat a woman wears while cleaning her house, would be good for the Emmy's. I wouldn't wear this to Walmart! Those shoes that look like one will trip because of them at any moment have got to go. Utter dreck!
I want to suddenly watch some Molly Ringworm movie and listen to Wham or Depeche Mode. Kristin Cavallari thought this 80's get up looked great from the Mullet dress style to her hair that looks like she used the same "gel" from "Everybody Loves Mary". The only thing I don't mind are her shoes.
This is the worst..a truly whacked out suit all in,,ughh, paisley worn by Deon Cole. Listen it is hard enough to look at paisley wallpaper or bedsheets but as a suit? WTF?? I actually had many WTF moments looking at the outfits from Taraji P Henson's spider eye bugging outfit to Michelle Dockery's beautiful blue destroyed by a grade 8 orange applique placed right in front of the bodice. I think that Deon and Mary Steenbergen walked into the same closet...
Why Mary? Ted looks ok but you make me want to play "connect the dots". The whole suit is horrible especially with the different patterned pockets and those pastel pink shoes. Your eyes look like 2 piss holes in the snow and please stop stretching your face. You are beautiful without doing that.
I hope my fellow fashion gal, Marni, is able to participate.

The Tony's!
I have had a very busy month of May with 7 birthdays crammed into 2 weeks and Marni has been dealing with fun stuff as well but I hope to be back on track and will start off with the Tony's-The Tonys are the awards for Broadway and many people we never heard of come to this event in hopes of winning this coveted award. I am here, and Marni will add her 2 cents worth as well, to cover the do's and don't of the awards fashion.
One thing I noticed, many men wearing tuxes with running shoes...stop being goofballs and wear the proper shoes because you look like an idiot. I will also add that, when wearing a bow tie, make sure it is straight. So many were crooked that I thought the bow tie just squirted water at someone.
On to The Best...
This is Renee Fleming, who has a beautiful voice, wearing custom Vera Wang. I love the bright pink with her skin colour and hair. She looks stunning.
I love this dress! It is a beautiful deep blue with a bit of bling that sets her figure off so well. She doesn't need that horse tail which detracts from the dress but, other than that, I would love to wear this dress.
This dress is great created by Christian Siriana and worn by Taylor Lauderman who is an actress. She is showing off her gam(s) and this dress with the colours that are bright but all work so well together.
The bad....
Tina Landau is a force of nature by being a playwright and a director but WTF are you wearing. Did you go into some old lady's closet circa 1986 and just grab..whatever? A sparkly sequined pink jacket with a boring white shirt paired with blue satin pants and then...running shoes?? She was running late, dressed in the car and forgot to do anything with that hair or face...oh well.
So..this creepy couple are Wayne Coyne, a musician and his girlfriend Katy Weaver. I guess he composed the music for Spongebob the musical hence her stupid purse. Now, to be honest, I don't mind her outfit which fits her well and it looks cute on her but he decides to wear a matching shirt with the blue suit that doesn't quite fit right and then those shoes...ughh. they were smoking something when they dressed up.
Ok so this is my worst pick. Rachel Bloom put out to twitter to make something involving Steven Sondheim and the winner created this shirt of Sondheim smoking weed. Yes, she thought this was a good idea to pair it with this dirty..oh, sorry this is the actual colour, long dress with a blotch of red and coral things climbing around this putrid skirt...bleccchhhh.
One more note...
Rachel Brosnahan had Dolce & Gabbana create an outfit so she would disappear into the background. Now I know where the 1950's drapes went to.
Anyone to add Marni?

Royal Wedding 2018
Now, I don't know about you, but I LOVE a Royal Wedding. And the wedding of Harry and Meghan did NOT disappoint. I am tasked with talking about the fascinators and hats that were worn to the church for the ceremony and I am also going to post my best-dressed guest because I just cannot resist.
First, let's hear it for the Mother of the Bride, who looked incredible. And talk about poise and class. This woman has it all. Doria Ragland is a yoga instructor and social worker who has been thrust into the spotlight without it seems, any prior exposure to the press, etc. Doria nailed it, in every respect. The proud and happy expression on her face said it all. I loved the colour of her dress, the embroidery, the clutch, her natural makeup, and of course, her fascinator. Let's take a look:
Now, some of the fascinators and hats........
Now wait just a minute.......is that just a HINT of a smile from Victoria? THAT may have been the biggest news of the wedding day. All kidding aside, Victoria's fascinator is pretty and very demure. The entire outfit is a bit of a dark colour for a spring wedding I thought. But, the fascinator does look fantastic, beautiful proportion and just enough netting to look quite innocent.
Look at Kitty Spencer, Diana's niece, she looks absolutely flawless. I adore her entire outfit. I know that I am supposed to talk about the fascinators, but I just cannot help myself from talking about the entire look. Kitty's look is one of my faves from the day.....the colour, the embroidery, the slightly fluted bottom of the dress, her makeup, shoes, and of course the fascinator.......sheer perfection.
The Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice........BEFORE......
And.........AFTER.........
I must say.......I was quite disappointed in the outfits and hats.........way too much of a change from the previous Royal Wedding. I was hoping for much more girls............why bring out the 'frump' for such a fashionable occasion?
And here is Fergie. I do think she looked lovely. And I don't say that very often about Fergie. I just wish her mouth hadn't been open so much of the time when she was walking towards the chapel. I do like navy blue, but again, I am not sure that it is the colour for a spring wedding. The bit of pink on the collar and at the sleeves did lighten it up a bit though. And the fascinator was okay, the bit of netting certainly was not nearly enough to make Fergie 'demure'....;) I am glad that she was invited though, after all, she is the mother of two princesses.
The Queen looked lovely. The purple with the lime green is an incredible combo. I love that the Queen is wearing more daring colour these days, they look great on her. And there's a smile. But the handbag could have been purple perhaps, instead of black? Just a thought.
Alright, alright.......I guess I have to mention these two guests. Not quite sure who they are but the yellow outfit, although not my favourite colour for an outfit, was tailored impeccably and the hat, yes, this is a hat, was placed exactly where it should have been placed. And the guy, well, I would have expected a fancier suit from him. A darker colour would have bee nice to really set off the yellow. Ugh........
Priyanka.......full on classy glam. PERFECTION........I don't even know what else to say. One of my faves for sure.
Here is another angle of the hat:
O.M.G.
Now Ms. Oprah killed it in that hat. The angle, the upturned brim at the side, the flowers, the feathers, the glasses........girl, you look fantastic! And Oprah got to sit in the choir section too! Even Fergie didn't get that far in the church ;)
Well, I don't know who this girl is with Priyanka, but I ADORE her entire ensemble. Polka dots are welcome at ANY British festivity as far as I am concerned. She epitomized 'spring wedding' attire. The rosettes on her fascinator just were the cherry on top of the cake. Well done.
Now here is my pick for best-dressed couple, well let's face it, I really am more interested in the dress and hat, but James looks perfect in his morning suit. His wife is STUNNING. Can I say it again? STUNNING. I am a lover of florals and if you look closely, these are embroidered florals. Look at the Peter Pan collar, the colours, the length, the slight fluting on the skirt portion, the trim on the hem, sleeves, and collar, and of course the fascinator. BEAUTIFUL. Loved everything about it. Spot on.
Well, Birgit, I could go on and on and on, but I have gardening to do.......hahahaha. Please let me know what you think. I didn't go into many 'disapproving' outfits, I think I will leave that to you.

Met Gala 2018
The Met gala has become the premier fashion event of the year with many famous people wearing outfits that you just can't take home to mother...or go to work in. This event is to raise money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute. It is actually a fundraiser where us pleebs would never be invited to since my fashion is from Giant Tiger.
I can't help but see all this grandeur and excess only to think of all the money that went into these gowns could be used to help animals or the starving kids. Anyhoo, here are my picks which i categorize as The Good, The Bad and the WTF?!
This year the theme was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion & the Catholic Imagination.
Marni Says......Dear Birgit, you are HILARIOUS! I love that you labeled some of these ridiculocities (I don't think that's a word) as outfits 'that you just can't take home to mother'.......I am busting a gut here! Hahahahaha!
The Good
I wish Rooney would smile, just once but that being said I do love this gown done by Givenchy Haute Couture. I love the fabric and the colour and the clean lines but her wrist is calling out for a bracelet.
Marni Says.....Birgit, I agree. Smile for goodness sake. And I do believe that an accessory on her wrist would just kind of finish off the outfit. The colour is heavenly and the tailoring is immaculate.
I don't know who Emilia Clarke is but she is wearing a Dolce & Gabbana gown which I think it sumptuous with all the brocade. I even don't mind the oval pictures on it even though they are distracting but they remind me of 2 tea cups I have at home. I think it fits well and the jewelry is great.
Marni Says.....Yes Birgit, I do like this one, but I see what you mean about the 'teacup' sort of designs. I do agree that something could be used in the fabric to just give it that extra little punch, but 'teacup' designs are not cutting it for me.
I found this gown, designed by Michael Kors, quite understated from the other concoctions but I found it quite pretty with the brocade on red with the small belt and the train behind her. nicely done.
What do you think Marni?
Birgit, I think you are right. Impeccable tailoring, perfect length with just a hint of toes peeking out. If it was not for the train though, this would have no place in the Met Gala show. The train gave it that extra flair to just stand out. LOVE the colour on her too.
This Louis Vuitton gown, worn by Michelle Williams, is to evoke the knights from the Romantic age. Once again, it is not over the top but has the right amount of shimmer and there is the small belt again the flows well with the neck outline and the shoulders. Please Michelle...smile
Marni here......Okay, so yes, please smile and stop trying to look so demure all the time.........good lord. I love how everything comes together based on the skinny belt that matches the sleeves and trim around the neck.
Usually Salma is on my E-Gad list but I really like this Altuzarra gown with the whole imagery of a garden. It fit her well including her bodacious Ta-tas.
OMG.....this is Marni. Selma always goes all out! I wish she had straightened her hair because there is so much going on in the 'picture' on this dress that the waves/curls are not really needed. And her face would have looked a little softer if she had parted her hair a bit to the side. I do LOVE curly hair, and Birgit and I both have naturally curly hair, but I think either straight or just a slight wave would have worked much better here.
I love the colour and the beautiful brocade headdress Priyanka Chopra is wearing. I think it fits the theme of the Byzantine icons one sees in Russian churches etc.. Ralph Lauren outdid himself.
Do you like this Marni?
Birgit, Priyanka looks amazing in this gown.....the colour, the cut, and the theme.....spot on! The flow of the fabric is exquisite.
Yes, this dress is cut up to her youwho but look at the workmanship and the colours! At first I didn't care much for it but the more I looked at it the more I fell in love with this beautiful gown that evokes a peacock or a butterfly. Versache truly made a gown of exquisite fabric.
This girl is beautiful and she knows it. This fits her in all the right places, but I do agree that the slit could have been a bit more modest, we know what's up there girl and it shouldn't be shown at the Met Gala...........
I love this artistic piece even though I don't think it fits her well but this gown is just amazing with all the icons, gold threads, pearls and other precious stones. I wonder what this dress is worth? This dress really evokes the theme of the night. Moschino outdid themselves when designing this gown.
Birgit, do you think that this dress is wearing HER and not the other way around? I do love all of the icons, etc. in the fabric, but it's missing something and I can't quite put my finger on it......
OK not to the bad....
I wondered what happened to my 1970s couch. The style is nice and it fits Naomi well but blecchhh too much going on. Michael kors could do better and please, no more gold or yellow on Naomi.
Oh no, no, no........Naomi, we want to see YOU and not something that looks like a mannequin.....the colour and pattern totally wash you out and we can barely see that you are even there.........
Is it just me or does it look like Jennifer Connelly's bust was photoshopped over another gal's body? What the hell is going on? It is like Louis Vuitton's staff mixed up 2 different gowns just like Rachel mixed up the trifle from friends.." There's a layer of cream, lady fingers, jam, followed by beef, peas and mashed potatoes. it's topped off with fruit and whipped cream." Ughhh
Any other bad outfits that should be sent to hell that you wish to add Marni?
UM..............Yes. It totally looks like a photoshop project gone wrong........Oh boy......
Now for the WTF?!
What an idiot! We can always count on Sarah Jessica Parker to wear something outlandishly stupid. This is by Dolce and Gabbana and it is loud, tacky and those stupid hearts look like bull's eyes. That headdress is crooked with the top part looking like a grade 5 class glued it with Elmer's glue and then Sarah took the glue away from them and sniffed it. I want a peashooter to try and knock that thing off her head.
I agree Birgit. And the headdress looks like a craft project I did in Sunday school, minus the macaroni but including every other thing in the church basement craft closet..............I get a headache just looking at that sitting on her head.......ADVIL please!!!!!
I didn't know the pope became a slut. There must be so many gems and pearls on this outfit of shame created by Marson Margela (I think I have the name right) that it would be better used to sell it and donate it to an animal shelter. Apparently it is a real cardinal's hat and all the lemmings are out praising this piece of crap but not me.
Um.........I have NO words.................
I...I...just don't have the words but the oil creep from Star Trek: The Next Generation is about to swallow her up. Where is a pin when you need one. I would love to pop those sides anD see it deflate.
Okay, so what woman wants to look like a Slip and Slide at the Met Gala? And what woman wants all of that bulk added to her hips? I have enough of my own hips thank you.
So Katy missed the Macy's Thanksgiving parade float and wondered onto this gala. The go go boots and outfit scream, "Help I need therapy!". She almost knocked out her stylist while walking the red carpet. Versace should hold their head in shame but, then again, look at Donatella's face.
Katy......just fly away, please.
2 last looks that I think are cool
Yes, this is over the top and I would never be caught dead in this but I love how Frances McDormand is having fun with her headdress of flyaway leaves..or are they birds? Valentino made this get up and Frances just knows how to have fun and not take things too seriously.
I could not believe that this is Frances McDormand! In a coloured gown! And what a colour it is......you go girl! You got guts and you know it! LOVE it!
Zendaya is channeling Joan of Arc in this over the top costume but I like it. I think it is cool how she found the right style for the theme without being a WTF? moment. The dress fits her very nicely and I love how it is feminine looking but still brings the armour from the 14th century. She doesn't look too happy but she will be burned at the stake so who can fault her.
I have two words.......please NO.
This is extremely lengthy but I had to gab about these. I am not sure If Marni will add her fav's or horror shows but I hope she does.
I can't help but see all this grandeur and excess only to think of all the money that went into these gowns could be used to help animals or the starving kids. Anyhoo, here are my picks which i categorize as The Good, The Bad and the WTF?!
